Davis possesses more than 8 years of experience as a financial and investment specialist. Before joining Lily Fenn & Partners in 2017, Davis had been developing his career in the financial field and attained a managerial position in the Hong Kong flagship of a leading PRC insurance company. He was the investment manager of a substantial investment portfolio comprising fixed income products, mutual funds, structured notes, total return swaps, and interest rate and foreign exchange derivatives. He also had experience in financing covering RMB and USD bond issuances, banking facilities, syndicated loans and structured loans.


He was a former Type 1 (Dealing in securities), Type 2 (Dealing in futures contracts) and Type 3 (Leveraged Foreign Exchange trading) licensed representative dealing in securities, futures, options, bullion and leveraged foreign exchange. His profound understanding of the market operation enables him to provide legal advice and practical solutions to clients.


Davis was one of a few legal practitioners who has dual qualifications in law and finance. He is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst ("CFA") and Financial Risk Manager ("FRM") designations. Both of which are the world’s highly respected certifications for financial professionals.


Davis further acquired his Master of Laws degree ("LL.M.") in Corporate and Financial Law (with Distinction) in the University of Hong Kong in 2021 which enables him to keep abreast of the latest law and regulations of financial innovations and legal technologies. Davis provides legal advice on fintech, cryptocurrencies, Non- Fungible Tokens (“NFT”), etc.


With his substantial knowledge and experience in investment and finance, he is in the position to provide legal advice on all aspect of corporate and commercial matters, including but not limited to Initial Public Offerings and Placings, various investment and financing documentations (including ISDA documentations), sales and purchase of shares, shareholders’ collaborations, corporate governance, company secretarial matters, tax issues, securities law compliance. In the meantime, he also handles and advises clients on investment disputes, shareholders’ disputes and other trade and commercial disputes.


In addition to corporate and commercial matters, Davis has also developed a board legal practice in civil litigation involving substantial wealth and different classes of assets. For contentious works, it includes probate and trust disputes, matrimonial matters (child custody and ancillary relief), land ownership disputes, applications under Part II of Mental Health Ordinance, employment and insurance disputes at different levels of Court. For non-contentious works, he advises on administration of trusts and estates, preparing and reviewing employment contracts for corporations, preparation of wills and trusts, and deeds of family arrangements for high-net-worth clients.


After completing his business degree, Davis pursued legal studies in Manchester Metropolitan University and was awarded the Graduate Diploma in English and Hong Kong Law (with Distinction) in 2015 and the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) Degree with First Class Honours in 2016.  He was then admitted as a Solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong in 2019, after completing his traineeship in Lily Fenn & Partners.
